Jewel McClinton - Professional Summary:    

 

Since 2006, Jewel McClinton has served as the Principal of Lawrence Elementary School for Mathematics and Science in Chicago, Illinois. Under Jewel McClinton’s leadership, Lawrence Elementary School has achieved strong success, and she is particularly skilled at supervising curriculum and instruction, supporting the professional development of fellow staff members, and administering various programs throughout the school. Previously, Jewel McClinton was a Principal Intern at Herzl Elementary School in Chicago through the Leadership Academy and Urban Network for Chicago (LAUNCH) program. In addition, Jewel McClinton has held the position of Reading Specialist and Lead Literacy Teacher at Poe Classical School, also in Chicago. From 1996 to 2004, Jewel McClinton was a teacher of kindergarten and third through sixth grade at Poe Classical School, and she gained early administrative experience in the field of education as a Graduate Assistant in the School of Education at Chicago State University. A member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals, Jewel McClinton also belongs to the Illinois Principals Association, ASCD (the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development), and the International Reading Association. Jewel McClinton attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Education in Instructional Leadership. For the latter degree, Jewel McClinton specialized in Reading, Writing, and Literacy. At the present time, Jewel McClinton is completing her dissertation for her Doctor of Education at Roosevelt University.
