About Jenn Stuczynski


Jenn Stuczynski is an American pole vaulter who was born on February 6, 1982 in Fredonia, New York. Her dad, Mark Stuczynski, and mom, Sue Stuczynski, are grocery store owners in Fredonia.


Jenn Stuczynski attended the Fredonia High School after which she went to Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. She moved to the University of Buffalo for a short period and returned to Roberts Wesleyan College to complete her degree. Jenn Stuczynski has started pursuing her graduate degree in child psychology.


Her association with sports started as she played softball when she was six years old. She competed in an adult golf league with her grandfather when she was nine, and in high school, she was playing softball, basketball, track and field, and soccer games. Jenn Stuczynski won the New York State pentathlon title in 2000 as a senior. While in college, she competed consistently in basketball games and took her team to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Championship game. She also holds various records in the 100 meter hurdles, 400 meter hurdles, javelin, and high jump events at her college. Jenn Stuczynski began involved with pole vault in 2004 as a senior at Roberts Wesleyan College. As a youngster, she received critical advice from her father on all her performances in sports.


In 2005, Jenn Stuczynski established her presence in pole vault by winning the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) indoor title with a 4.00 meter clearance. Following this victory, she also won the 2005 USA Indoor championships in Boston by clearing 4.35 meters. She started 2006 on a remarkable note by setting personal bests at almost every meet. That year she cleared an astonishing 4.68 m, thereby becoming the second-best American pole-vaulter, behind Stacy Dragila. At the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships, Jenn Stuczynski captured her first USA Outdoor title by soaring above 4.55 meters. She proved her talent in the sport by retaining the USA Outdoor Championships title for three consecutive years.


On May 20, 2007, she conquered the height of 15 feet, 10-1/2 inches, thus becoming the only woman pole vaulter in that event to clear 15 feet. Jenn Stuczynski achieved this feat at the Adidas Track Classic in Carson, California, by breaking Stacy Dragila’s American outdoor pole vault record by half an inch. She bettered her own record by crossing the sixteen foot mark at the Reebok Grand Prix on June 2, 2007, making her the second woman in the world to do so.
Jenn Stuczynski earned an entry into the 2008 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Indoor World Championships in Valencia, Spain by winning a gold medal in the 2008 USA Indoor Championships. At the IAAF Championships, she cleared 4.75 meters, which earned her a silver medal. The latest addition to her medals tally happened at the 2008 edition of the Summer Olympics, held at Beijing. Jenn Stuczynski cleared an impressive 4.80 meters and finished second behind Yelena Isinbayeva, a Russian pole vaulter who holds the world record in this sport.


Jenn Stuczynski was signed as a brand spokesperson for Nutrilite in August 2007. Nutrilite is a brand of vitamin, mineral and dietary supplements and is sold through Amway Corporation. She is an ardent animal lover and finds pleasure in taking her dog, Tundra, on long walks.
