About Jean-Robert Estime

Currently employed with Chemonics International, Jean-Robert Estime is the Chief of Party of the USAID/WINNER Project, a large-scale development initiative implemented in Haiti, which is part of the global "Feed the Future" Program launched by President Obama to fight poverty and improve food security in developing countries. The WINNER Project aims at increasing agricultural production and farmer income, while stabilizing watersheds through a combination of technical innovation, good governance, infrastructure rehabilitation and maintenance, agroforestry and environmental protection. Operating from Port au Prince, Haiti, Jean-Robert Estime directs a multi-disciplinary group tasked with improving living conditions, opening new markets and reducing natural disasters risks for rural populations in the western region of Haiti. Partnering with an array of stakeholders that include the private sector and the Haitian government, the WINNER Project provided key assistance following the 2010 earthquake, supporting 80,000 farmers and offering humanitarian aid to approximately 200,000 individuals across the country.

Jean-Robert Estime possesses more than three decades of diverse experience in both the private and public spheres. He has spent two decades with civil service and the Haitian government, fulfilling an array of roles that include Cabinet Member of the Ministry of Planning, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador to France. Immediately prior to assuming his current position, he operated as Policy Reform Specialist based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Director of the Africa region with Chemonics International in Washington, DC. Mr. Estime began working with Chemonics in 1991 as an International Trade Specialist, advancing to Chief of Party/Policy Analyst in 1993 in the USAID/BEST Project in Burundi.

Mr. Estime assumed the role of Chief of Party for Chemonics in the USAID/LDI Project in Madagascar, in 1998, and then the role of Senior Institutional Development Specialist and Strategic Planner in 2003, before returning to the position of Chief of Party of the USAID/BAMEX project in Madagascar, in 2004.
