Jay Martens is an amateur poker player from Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. He has eleven years of post-graduate education and now works as a doctor, splitting his time between psychiatry and family medicine. But what really excites him has always been poker. He is an adventurous player, who made it to the Season 3 Bay 101 via an $8 satellite. As a matter of fact, that was the first time he ever played in a brick and mortar card room. He made it to the final table after he had to face some pretty talented players and managed to finish 2nd. Then he earned the prize of $600,000. Not bad for an amateur, right?
Everybody knows that poker players are mostly known by their nicknames. So, driven by this thought, Jay Martens wondered what nickname would suit him best. It wasn’t too long before his own friends came up with “the Statue” and that was just days before the tournament. So far we haven’t seen much more from Jay Martens, but hopefully that will change in future.
