About Jared Bartie
Basketball has always been a passion for attorney Jared Bartie. As a child, he loved watching sports on television and considered Dr. J (Julius Erving) his sports hero. While at Cambridge, Massachusetts' Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, he played for the state champion boys’ varsity basketball team.
After high school, Jared Bartie attended American University in Washington, D.C. on a Frederick Douglass Scholarship, earning his B.A. in Law and Society in 1990. Jared Bartie subsequently attended Northwestern University School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1993. His love of basketball drove him to join the sports law practice group at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, where one of his clients was the National Basketball Association (NBA).
After leaving Proskauer Rose in 1995, Jared Bartie held a variety of executive roles at various companies, including Black Entertainment Television; Scholastic, Inc.; the XFL; and the WWE. In 2005, Jared Bartie returned to his first love, basketball. The NBA League office hired him as Vice President of Team Marketing and Business Operations, where he counseled NBA teams and executives on how to maximize revenue and build their businesses. Following his position as Vice President, Jared Bartie served as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of the Charlotte Bobcats, where he supervised finance, legal, human resources, arena operations, and information technology matters.
Jared Bartie is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association. Jared Bartie also enjoys watching and playing basketball in his free time.
