Janet Turansky

A licensed speech and language pathologist, Janet Turansky works with children, adolescents, and adults throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Westchester County, New York. A graduate of New York City’s Hunter College, Janet Turansky earned her Master of Arts with dual degrees in Speech Pathology & Audiology and Early Childhood Education; she attained her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Queens College. Janet Turansky gained valuable hands-on experience at Mount Sinai Medical Center’s outpatient clinic and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Speech and Hearing Clinic, both in New York City.

 

With more than 30 years of speech and language pathology experience, Janet Turansky assists families with their verbal communication issues by drawing on the latest corrective techniques. Janet Turansky concentrates on oral motor dysfunction, feeding therapy, autism, and auditory processing disorders, as well as voice and stuttering difficulties. As a professional speech pathologist, Janet Turansky employs the PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) technique to physically manipulate a child’s jaw, face, and mouth in order to demonstrate to him or her how speech sounds, sounds in the words, or words in sentences are produced. Also practiced in the methods of Phyllis Bertin and Eileen Perlman’s Preventing Academic Failure program, Janet Turansky works with children to rehabilitate their reading and writing skills. To guarantee a relaxing, natural therapy setting for young children, Janet Turansky attends to clients in the comfort of their homes.

Beyond her professional life, Janet Turansky contributes to her community by volunteering with the American Red Cross and at her local YWCA. When at home, Janet Turansky enjoys golf, tennis, and cycling.
