About Jamil Wilson

Jamil Wilson was born on November 21, 1990, at Racine, Wisconsin to James and Carolyn Wilson. The 6 foot 7 talented sportsman, Plays in the small forward position for the Horlick high school, Racine and AAU Wisconsin playground elite squad. He is to Graduate at the class of 2009, and already considered one of the elite ten top players of his class. To a professional eye, he is compared to Marvin Williams because of his versatility, athleticism and option to play multiple forward slots. The 17 year old player is the number one ranked sophomore among state players on basketball websites and portals and a five star prospect according to scout.com. In addition, Wilson became the first non-senior to be named Player of the Year since Horlick’s Joel Burns in 1992.
Jamil Wilson, is an extremely flexible forward with tremendous potential as a player. While continuing to enhance his shooting and ball-handling skills, Wilson is a great athlete who is extremely productive on the court. Contributes on rebounding and is capable of leading the offence plays.
When given the chance he will hit the outside shot, but he’s more comfortable either at mid-range or close to the rim. On defense, Jamil is a terrific weak-side defender and can also close the passing lanes thanks to his length.

As one of the more intriguing basketball prospects in the class of 2009, Jamil Wilson has learned that expectations from him are high each time he hits the court.
He’s got quite a few offers on the table right now, some of which include a full scholarship. Both Wisconsin and Marquette made keeping the Dairy State star within their borders a top priority, but teams from across the nation exhibited an equal amount of determination in their attempts to tempt him away. Both Duke and Michigan State expressed strong interest, while Purdue and Ohio State presented their offers as well.
When decision time finally comes around, His family, which to his words, raised him well and focused on his progression, will play a key role in helping him assess which program fits him best. At this point, his father's guidance has been one of the keys to keeping recruiting in proper perspective. That's something his mother was a major part of as well until her unfortunate passing due to cancer last year. To honor her memory, the date in which he reveals his collegiate choice to the world, her birthday, March 9th, 2009, will have special significance.
Wilson is getting ready for the upcoming summer, in which he will participate in the off season program to improve his game skills.
Off the courts Jamil turns out to be a decent fellow, caring for his family and working on getting exposure for his teammates.

Wilson paved the road for the Wisconsin Playground elite squad to the semifinals with his ability to score, play strong defense, and get timely rebounds. He's unselfish with the ball yet shows a build-up self esteem despite his youth. Overall, Wilson's court demeanor is excellent and he possesses all the attributes to be a great player down the road.
