About James Toya

Chappaqua, New York, resident James Toya sets high standards for himself in academic and professional excellence, and regularly achieves them. Graduating magna cum laude from Binghamton University in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, James Toya went on to complete graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and attained a managerial position with Credit Suisse, a global financial services provider.


James Toya studied finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, where he benefited from the interacting with the high achieving student body and a nationally respected faculty. In 1992, after earning a Master’s degree in Finance, James Toya was hired at Credit Suisse. Working in Credit Suisse’s Manhattan office, James Toya worked as a U.S. interest rate salesman, selling cash and derivative products to clients including hedge funds and official institutions globally.


When a need arose on the trading side, Jim Toya was transfered to the U.S. Treasury trading desk as a “market maker” in 1998. Jim Toya produced then record returns in various trading seats. James Toya played an integral role in client growth during his seven years as a market maker. In 2004 James was promoted to managing director at Credit Suisse. For five years, from 2005 to 2009, James Toya served as the co-head of U.S. interest rate products at Credit Suisse. In this capacity Jim and his co-head oversaw the operations of 150 employees in New York, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The group produced record revenues in 2008 and 2009. Before leaving the company to pursue other career options, Jim Toya also served on Credit Suisse’s Fixed Income Operating Committee, the Managing Director Evaluation Committee and was active in recruiting and mentoring programs.


A longtime outdoorsman, Jim Toya supports the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. James Toya enjoys building boats and donating his time and resources to a number of charitable organizations, including Student Sponsor Partners and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
