About James Pex
James Pex - Professional Summary:
James Pex serves as the founder, CEO, and consultant for International Forensic Experts LLC. The company uses a variety of contractors who, like James, have decades of specialized experience in criminal forensic investigation. Pex’s areas of specialization include blood spatter analysis, and he has authored and co-authored numerous papers on the topic, including “High Velocity Backspatter on Shirt Sleeves,” which appeared in the Newsletter of the California Association of Criminalists.
Before his career as a consultant, James Pex worked for the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory. Pex first worked for the lab as a Criminalist from 1978 to 1989, after which he was promoted to Forensic Director. During that time, he received numerous accolades for his scientific investigations, including a commendation from the Oregon State Police for exceptional performance in the homicide investigation of Michael Francke. Pex also consistently attended training courses in firearms, toxicology, and blood analysis from the Serological Research Institute, FBI Academy, and others.
James Pex was originally trained in chemistry and medical technology. Before entering the Oregon State Police Law Enforcement Training School in 1978, Pex completed a Master’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Education from Southern Oregon University. Pex’s Bachelor’s degree, completed in 1969 and conferred by the Oregon Technical Institute, was in Medical Technology.
When not working in forensic science, James Pex engages in a number of hobbies and community service. He continues to provide seminars and training, such as a 2008 lecture on the use of multimedia in the courtroom to the Navy Justice School.
