About James Cihla
James Cihla - Professional Summary:
Over the years, technologist and engineering executive James Lawrence Cihla has developed a diverse array of hardware and software systems for companies ranging from startup ventures such as NeoScale Systems, Inc., to global leaders such as IBM and NVIDIA Corporation. Today, James Cihla applies his experience at the Silicon Valley-based firm Arira Design, Inc., where he has served as Director of Engineering since 2007.
In his current role, James Cihla drives the development of enterprise systems and consumer products. His projects at Arira include storage servers, notebook and tablet computers, products for power management and conversion, and ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) system hardware.
Before assuming his post at Arira, James Cihla worked for NeoScale in Milpitas, California, spearheading the development and global distribution of data security appliance solutions compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standard. From 2005 to 2007, he served as NeoScale’s Director of Engineering.
Prior to joining NeoScale, James Cihla developed wireless media platforms for NVIDIA in Santa Clara as its Manager of Systems Hardware. While there, he worked on a number of handset reference designs and a handheld gaming platform. A seasoned professional with over two decades of industry experience, he has also held positions at the storage networking company Candera, Inc., the telecommunications startup AccessLan Communications, Inc., and the enterprise storage and networking solutions provider Auspex Systems, Inc.
James Cihla has studied graduate-level computer science through Stanford University’s Center for Professional Development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he also minored in computer science.
