About Jagadeesh Arunkumar

Jagadeesh Arunkumar is a 33-year-old cricket player from Bangalore, India. One of the most experienced players on the Indian domestic circuit, Arunkumar has played over 200 matches across the First-Class and List A levels for Karnataka. The veteran also represented the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the Indian Premier League.

Arunkumar made his domestic debut for Karnataka in the 1993-94 season and has been a regular fixture in the state side ever since. Over a domestic career spanning more than fifteen years, Jagadeesh Arunkumar has registered in excess of 10,000 runs, including 27 centuries and 55 half-centuries. He has also managed to maintain an impressive First-Class average of 44.3. Though mostly a batsman, the right-hander occasionally uses his arm to deliver offbreaks and has so far netted nine wickets.

In spite of being among the older lot of players on the domestic circuit, Jagadeesh Arunkumar has adjusted well to the Twenty20 format of cricket, usually considered the domain of youth and aggression. Arunkumar made his T20 debut for Karnataka against Assam in April 2007. In seven career T20 matches, the veteran has scored a total of 79 runs at a run-a-ball and an average of 11.28. Seeing his experience as an advantage in a format dominated by youth, the Royal Challengers of Bangalore recruited the 33-year-old into their squad for the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 league started by the Indian cricket board that consists of the world’s top players in teams from eight different Indian cities.
