About Ishmael Miller

Ishmael Miller, an English footballer, was born on March 5, 1987 in Moston, Manchester. Nicknamed "The Moston Menace", he plays as a midfielder or striker on the field. This international player received his first call-up to the England national Under-21 team in November 2007.

Ishmael Miller started his career in football by signing for the Manchester City Football Club (F.C.) in 2005. As a member of the first team, he played several pre-season games for the club. After his remarkable performances in the reserve team, on March18, 2006 he made his competitive first team debut for the club, as a substitute, in an (Football Association) FA Premier League match against Wigan Athletic. Ishmael Miller went on to become the leading goal scorer for the reserve team.

In the following season too, Ishmael Miller featured in many pre-season matches as a first team member and scored a goal in a friendly match against Wrexham. He played as a substitute in four of Manchester City's first six games, following which he played his first full match against West Ham on September 23, 2006. Ishmael Miller assisted in the opening goal by starting the move and the Blues progressed to make a 2-0 win. During his tenure with the club, he played a total of 17 matches.

Ishmael Miller was sent on a season-long loan to West Bromwich Albion on August 15, 2007 and following his move, Tony Mowbray, the manager of West Bromwich Albion, credited that he is big, quick, powerful lad who was looking for an opportunity to play more regularly. He added that Ishmael Miller will increase competition for places with the other strikers at the club and predicted that he will give them a different option up front. Very true to the words of Tony, Ishmael Miller scored his first goal for the club, in the 66th minute when he came on as a substitute, in a 2-0 win against Preston North End on August 18, 2007.

Ishmael Miller also netted in his first start for West Bromwich Albion in a 4-0 victory against Ipswich Town, following which he scored a brace against Cardiff City. His impressive displays during October 2007 paved way for him to be nominated for the Championship player of the month. On the last day of the January 2008 transfer window, he moved to West Bromwich Albion permanently by signing a three-and-a half-year contract. On March 9, 2008, at the quarter-final match of the FA Cup, Ishmael Miller scored a hat-trick in a clash with the Bristol Rovers that resulted in a 5-1 win for the Blues. As of May 2008, he has played 37 matches for West Bromwich Albion netting 9 goals.
