A momentous wedding service or ceremony is often remembered more for the uniqueness and quality of the music than all the expensive visual delights. We believe that couples have the right to choose exactly what music they like to create the splendour and their own personality, whatever the styles or musical taste. But, they are often either spoilt for choice, or else do not know how to weave their musical ideas into the service or ceremony.

 

A consultation with Tim & Irene Grant-Jones can solve this problem. They have vast experience at providing music at weddings. Tim has played organ and piano for weddings and Irene has sung solos at weddings for many years. They have played and sung a huge amount of music of all styles and traditions. During a consultation, after getting to know the couples and what music they may already have in mind, Tim & Irene will suggest ideas to complement and will also demonstrate them: music from before the service or ceremony begins, to the bridal procession, to the hymns or choruses (if a church service), to the music whilst the register is signed, to the wedding procession, and absolutely any other musical item.

 

Tim will provide a piano if needed and can organise a choir to boost the congregational singing (if a church service) or sing a choral item for the occasion. They can also provide background music to your reception where the bridal couple and guests can give prior requests of their favourite tunes.

Three Counties Radio presenter, Tim Wheeler visited our home to record his first attempt at singing an operatic aria live. Lorna Milton, the Luton based presenter introduced the event stating that it was live from a garden in Kempston! The overhead cables were too low to park the radio adapted car in our garden so it had to be parked in the Cutler Hammer Sports field. The reception was not good from inside the house so we moved a piano into the garden! It was 'home from home'. As performers we are used to singing and playing in unusual circumstances. I heard recently that Pina Bauch, the German choreograher died. Some of my work and ideas have been influenced by this great practitioner. I studied English, Dance and Drama [as a mature student] having already completed my musical training at the RAM- Royal Academy of Music years earlier. My final dance piece was 'The Rite of Spring' Stravinsky in conjunction with  Bauch's movement content.  An  amazing combination. The poetry module undertaken during my time at De Montfort University was fascinating. My tutor was Michael Spindler who had an  inspirational method of teaching.

 

Today I benefit enormously from those years, particularly the poetry. I would say that, at times poetry has been my life -line; a therapeutic element that has enriched my life and serves to amuse others. A poem written during my time in South Africa called, 'Traffic Workers' can be read on line- See: Bedford Virtual Library- Post a Poem. This is one of my many serious poems! It's great when a silly thought enters my head and my hand cannot wait to reach for my special wide- nibbed fountain pen.I love to read my poems out loud as though in a performance. I love to use my voice to express the ideas and words  bringing my thoughts to life and adding a further dimension.
