About Insanity workout
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Beachbody Insanity Workout
Beachbody is at it again. From P90X, they've developed a new home workout program on 10 DVDs called Insanity. Shaun T guides you through intense (really intense) cardiovascular, bodyweight and plyometrics exercises that will leave your tongue hanging out, literally, during and after each workout session. Costing a little less than $150, it's admittedly one of the pricier home workout programs available, but the intense workouts really make you lose weight in a couple of months.
If you're still not convinced whether to purchase the program or not, here are the advantages and disadvantages of the Beachbody Insanity Workout to help you decide whether it's worth a try:
Advantages of the Beachbody Insanity Workout:
1. It will make you lose weight if you continue with the program from start to finish. It has been proven to make you lose fat, tone your muscles and improve endurance in as short as a couple of months. If you do your share of the workout, it will deliver as promised.
2. It's an effective Max Interval Training workout that gives you a total- body exercise for "functional" strength and fitness. With exercises that develop both your upper and lower body and strengthen your core, you develop better body mechanics that enable you to move and feel better. A strong body also protects you from injury and strain due to poor posture and bad habits.
3. Since it's a cardiovascular and bodyweight program, you don't need weights or any other form of equipment, except a plyometric mat and good cross-trainers to minimize impact.
4. It comes with its own nutritional guide that gives you tips and recipes to further make your Insanity regimen successful. Even if you're off the program, the recipes are perfect for everyday meals.
5. The workout video and the people who comprise it are energetic and lively. You get motivated with their high energy levels even if the routines are extremely difficult.
Disadvantages of the Beachbody Insanity Workout
1. If you haven't noticed already, it's an advanced-level workout. If you're a total newbie or a couch potato with no exercise workout to your credit, it's best to start with exercises that start slow. Beachbody Insanity is insanely extreme. You won't be able to keep up if your fitness level is zilch.
2. There's a very big possibility that you will quit a few days into the program if you're not disciplined or motivated enough. It already takes a lot of self-motivation to do a regular home workout. It takes triple, quadruple, even quintuple the amount to do something as insanely strenuous as Insanity. If you don’t have enough of this, there's every possibility that you won't last long with this workout.
3. It's an extremely painful workout that will leave you more than sore for a few days after the initial salvo. The entire workout itself is ultra-challenging from start to finish, although you can expect your body to adapt with time.
4. As has already been mentioned before, it is pricey. With the same amount, you can get a few workout sessions with a personal trainer.
