About Hunter Ogletree
Professional Summary:
For many years, Hunter Ogletree was a champion of the Latino migrant community in Henderson County in western North Carolina. From 2006 to 2010, in the role of Migrant Education Program Specialist for Henderson County Public Schools, Hunter Ogletree coordinated and managed a variety of services aimed at providing opportunities for the children of migrant workers. Responsible for a $20,000 budget, Ogletree successfully doubled the size of a youth summer program designed to promote educational and social well-being. As Migrant Education Program Specialist, Hunter Ogletree advocated on behalf of more than 150 Latino migrant farm worker families with school officials and community service agencies. Hunter Ogletree also supported migrant workers’ rights in his free time as an active volunteer. In 2007, Hunter Ogletree served on the Board of Directors of Henderson County’s Latino Advocacy Coalition, whose mission is to bring together community members, service providers, educators, and clergy to host informational and cultural events for the area’s growing immigrant population, as well as provide a central resource hub geared toward meeting this group’s unique needs. Dedicated to the issues that concern Henderson County and its environs, Hunter Ogletree was a graduate of the Leadership Class for Civic Leaders offered by Vision Henderson County, a local organization promoting citizen volunteerism, in 2007. In 2009, Hunter Ogletree shared the knowledge he gained working on behalf of migrant students with a broader audience, presenting at the 41st Annual National Migrant Education Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Hunter Ogletree is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Spanish in 2002. Hunter Ogletree also holds an International Master of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, which he earned in 2008.
