About Gregory Munks
As Sheriff of San Mateo County, Gregory Munks has many people counting on him to set the example of a knowledgeable, compassionate, experienced law enforcement professional. As of January 2007, Greg Munks has consistently surpassed these expectations. With a solid reputation as an active community member in both a professional and personal capacity, Greg Munks has made significant contributions to San Mateo County through the development of community-based initiatives. Within the past 30 years, Gregory Munks implemented the City of Palo Alto Management Academy, the Palo Alto Police Bicycle Patrol Program, the Palo Alto Police Department�s Domestic Violence Response Policy, and a Seat Belt Safety Program Grant. In 1985, Greg Munks was the recipient of the Police Officer of the Year Award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his professional achievements, Greg Munks has made valuable contributions to his community as a private citizen. Utilizing his broad-ranging knowledge, Greg Munks has played a key role in the development and management of numerous programs. Greg Munks is a former Board Member of the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, Rebuilding Together, and the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy. Currently, Greg Munks sits on the Boards of the San Mateo County Service League, Youth and Family Enrichment Services, and San Mateo County History Museum. Sheriff Gregory Munks is a member in good standing with the California State Sheriffs� Association, California Peace Officers� Association, Western States Sheriffs� Association, California Narcotic Officers� Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Greg Munks has received extensive training in jail operations, executive hazardous materials management, urban terrorism, homicide investigation, robber investigation, and narcotics enforcement. A life-long resident of California�s Bay Area, Gregory Munks lives with his wife and children. In his leisure time, Gregory Munks enjoys traveling, playing golf, and skiing.
