About Greg Munks
Gregory Munks has served San Mateo County as Sheriff since January 2007. In his role as Sheriff, Greg Munks is dedicated to using his extensive experience to uphold the law as well as facilitate the development of innovative community initiatives. Over the course of his professional career, Greg Munks has successfully implemented a number of successful programs for the institutions for which he has worked. Greg Munks established the City of Palo Alto Management Academy, the Palo Alto Police Bicycle Patrol Program, the Seat Belt Safety Grant, and the Palo Alto Police Department�s Domestic Violence Response Policy. Greg Munks is also involved with a number of community-based programs outside of his official job duties. As a Board Member of Youth and Family Enrichment Services, Greg Munks plays a key role in bringing much-needed services to children and adults suffering from substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health issues. Greg Munks additionally played an integral part in the development of the Community Alliance to Rebuild Our Neighborhood (CARON) project, an anti-gang violence initiative. Greg Munks has also served on the boards of the San Mateo County History Museum, the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, and Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April). Sheriff Gregory Munks earned his undergraduate degree from the Menlo School of Business Administration. Greg Munks went on to attend Golden Gate University, from which he graduated with his Master of Business Administration. Prior to being elected Sheriff, Greg Munks received extensive specialized training in homicide investigation, narcotics enforcement, robbery investigation, sexual assault investigation, urban terrorism, hazardous materials management, and jail operations. Gregory Munks currently resides in California�s Bay Area with his wife and children. When he is not working, Greg Munks spends his time outdoors participating in activities such as golf and horseback riding.
