At Black River, Gregg Groechel is involved in the alternative asset management Industry. To this end, Gregg Groechel manages Black River's long and short equity investment platform, focusing primarily on commodity equities. Prior to joining Black River, Gregg Groechel co-founded Red Sky Partners, LLC. Serving as a Managing Member, Gregg Groechel engaged in all matters pertaining to the long/short equity funds managed by the company. Gregg Groechel received his start in finance at American Express Financial Corporation. With that company, Gregg Groechel co-launched the American Express hedge fund business. While working on the further development of this program, Gregg Groechel served American Express as a Senior Portfolio Manager for the company's hedge fund group. Gregg Groechel studied finance at the University of Minnesota, where he received his Bachelor's degree as well as a Master of Business Administration. While truly passionate about his career, Gregg Groechel has remained a dedicated husband and father. Gregg Groechel enjoys fishing, running, hiking, and various other outdoor sports, especially with his family. Additionally, Gregg Groechel volunteers his time to coaching youth sports teams.
