Gracepoint Fellowship Church, Berkeley, CA

For almost 30 years, Gracepoint has served Berkeley and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Previously known as Berkland Baptist Church, Gracepoint changed its name to reflect its dedication as an environment for witnessing the grace of God. Gracepoint is dedicated to acting as a community, living lives in accordance with the Gospel. In that respect, Gracepoint encourages its church attendants to pattern their lives after Christ. Gracepoint church members believe that their lives are meant to glorify God. Rather than focusing on their worldly existence, Gracepoint stresses the importance of Christians living in pursuit of holiness.

Located only a few blocks from the University of California, Berkeley campus, Gracepoint is a welcoming community of both college-aged students and Christians of all ages. Gracepoint offers Joyland, a children’s ministry, for those in kindergarten up to the sixth grade in a secure environment, so that parents can enjoy worship services. Older children can participate in Gracepoint’s youth ministry, and adults are invited to join its singles and couples ministry. Gracepoint is also an ethnically diverse congregation and is diversifying more with each coming year.

Gracepoint’s pastor is Ed Kang, a sharp and good-natured former lawyer and Berkeley graduate. Together with his wife Kelly, a previous Silicon Valley software engineer, Pastor Ed Kang charismatically delivers relevant sermons with deep and inspiring messages. For those who cannot be physically present, Gracepoint’s sermons can be downloaded on a weekly basis as podcasts.
