Gracepoint Fellowship Church

Since 1981, Gracepoint has been a spiritual home for people in Berkeley and the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Although the church originated as a college-based ministry, Gracepoint has now expanded to include youth of all ages, as well as adults, seniors, and young married couples. Gracepoint operates in the Southern Baptist tradition and strives to provide a nourishing and personal spiritual environment. To that end, as Gracepoint continues to grow, it recognizes the importance of maintaining intimate small groups that meet throughout the week, in addition to its large Sunday services. As its name implies, Gracepoint works to be the environment in which everyone can experience the grace of God.

Ed Kang, Gracepoint’s pastor, received a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley and left his burgeoning law career to pursue ministry. The faith and commitment that emanate from Pastor Ed Kang have built Gracepoint into the welcoming and engaging community that it is. Together with his wife Kelly, the Kangs have established Gracepoint as a congregation that not only offers fellowship to its members, but also a remarkable degree of service to its surrounding public.

In addition to its missionary work in countries such as Taiwan, Cambodia, Mexico, and China, Gracepoint also avidly supports other causes. This past year, Gracepoint participated in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine program to help raise awareness of world poverty. Gracepoint also, through various fund-raising efforts, such as a handyman service and food sales, earned over $114,000 for the cause. During the actual day of the fast, Gracepoint parishioners participated in a wide array of community service projects. Whether the day was spent at a nursing home, a food bank, a homeless shelter, or Meals on Wheels, the Gracepoint community expressed the greatest joy at being able to aid in the fight against world hunger and make a tangible difference in the lives of many people around the world.
