Gourmande in the Kitchen 

I am a freelance photographer based in Los Angeles, California, specializing in food photography.  My studio is currently located out of my home, where I shoot the images that appear on my blog.  The name “Gourmande in the Kitchen” reflects my love of food.  Gourmande is a French word that describes a person who has a great interest in food, someone who eats eagerly and with great passion. This site is about celebrating the pleasure that food brings to our lives on a daily basis.  Each of us brings a bit of our personality to the food we make.  Cooking isn’t just about mindlessly following recipe after recipe; it’s about following your instincts, trusting your taste buds, and finding a sense of confidence in the kitchen.  My motto is: cook simply.  I don’t think you always need a lot of time or a long list of ingredients to make satisfying and delicious food.   The food I make is the food I crave: uncomplicated, flavorful, comforting to eat, with a focus on quality ingredients and minimal preparation that let the natural flavors of the food shine.  What I crave changes daily (sometimes hourly) based on my mood and my source of inspiration, but I am most often drawn to fast, simple meals that include lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses and whole grains.  And of course there’s dessert.  The tastes I long for and remember the best sometimes are the sweet ones.  Yes, wholesome food and dessert happily co-exist in my kitchen (and in my stomach).
