What is AutoComplete?

As you type into the search box, AutoComplete is a service that guesses what you're typing and offers suggestions in real time. This is similar to the "Did you mean?" feature that offers alternative spellings for your query after you search, except that it works in real time. Good examples are PredictAd's AutoComplete, Google AutoComplete (suggest) and Yahoo's Search Assist. For example, typing "brox" generates suggestions like "broxbourne," and "broxtowe" or when you'll type "New York" PredictAd will offer "Also try" suggestions that include refined searches like "New York Yankees" or "New York hotel." You can choose a suggestion by scrolling up or down the list with the arrow keys or mouse.
