About Glen Chorny

Glen Chorny from Waterloo, Ontario in Canada was born in 1985. He lives, breathes and dreams poker. According to him, poker is his greatest hobby, and so far this hobby seems to be very profitable for Glen Chorny.

As a poker player of the new generation, Glen Chorny tends to play a lot online and has many nicknames: DrC, C-Horny, Choron and Don Key are his most well-known nicknames online.

When he was asked what his ambitions were, Glen Chorny answered: "To have incredible success that has not been yet matched in poker." And that he did in 2008, but we'll get there later. After all, everything has to start in the beginning…

The Canadian Glen Chorny, a business student at the Wilfrid Laurier University, played online poker for a few years, got himself a nice bankroll and decided it was time for him to go pro. The decision was made in January 2008, and Glen Chorny soon became a shooting star in the sky of the professional poker world.

The first live professional poker tournament Glen Chorny ever won cash in was the EPT Season 4 No Limit Hold'em tournament of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, on January 10th, 2008. In this tournament Glen Chorny took the 2nd prize and €57,143 ($80,000). Only a week later, on January 17th, he participated in the Pot Limit Omaha Championship of the WPT Season 6 World Poker Open, winning his first live 1st place ever and yet another $80,208. On February 21st, 2002, Glen Chorny took part in the WPT Season 6 LA Poker Classic event and took the 32nd place and $2,620 in the No Limit Hold'em tournament.

But the greatest moment in the short career of Glen Chorny as a professional poker player in live tournaments was on April 17th, 2008. On this day he won the 1st place in the No Limit Hold'em tournament of the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final, making €2,020,000 ($3,090,600) and by that winning the largest sum ever in a European poker tournament. Glen Chorny entered this EPT event as a PokerStars qualifier, by winning an online satellite. During the actual tournament he was said to have played ultra-aggressively, outclassing his opponents and emptying their chip stacks in no time. In an interview after his grand triumph Glen Chorny said that "it feels like you're a rock star." If he continues playing the way he did in the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final, he's surely about to feel this way again, and pretty soon, too.
