About Get Online, pass it on

What is the objective?
To ensure every UK business has a website and educate people to use the internet to make their business a success by marketing and managing their business online.

Strategy
Regularly educate start-ups and established business owners that having a website is essential to a successful business, via regular and compelling marketing activities. There will be feedback from online surveys aimed at finding out what people want to know about having an online presence. The surveys are aimed UK wide and will be distributed by partners who are supporting the campaign. I will be compiling a data base of all people who correspond with me about the campaign and collating the results of all the surveys so that the campaign events tackle the real issues that people face.

Target audience
Anyone who is thinking of starting a business and current business owners who are uneducated about using the internet as a means to growing and running a successful business.

Who are the influencers?
The current influencers are successful entrepreneurs such as Doug Richard, BERR and heads of business groups such as the FSB, IoD and Chambers of Commerce.

What is the key message?
Every business should how to use the internet to market and manage their business.

How will I convey the key message to the target audience?
Events, interviews, blogs, presentations, newsletters, competitions, websites, conferences, workshops, pass it on sessions, video, news releases, social media and an Online Petition to No 10.

Endorsements:
Key endorsements have come from BERR, the NFEA, FSB, BT, PayPal, eBay, well-known entrepreneurs and many other key players.

What are the timescales?
Commencing Sept 2009 to May 2010

How will I measure the success?
Following each event, there will be a short survey emailed to each of the attendees simply asking two questions: Do you already have website? Are you planning to have a website within 1, 3, 6 or 9 months? The results will be followed up so that by the end of the campaign, I can gauge the percentage of people who attended the events who now have a website compared to not having a website before the campaign event.
