About George Kollitides

As Lead Director of the Freedom Group, Inc. (FGI), George Kollitides was instrumental in the company’s rise to dominance in the American firearms industry. Since 2006, FGI has been a subsidiary of Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm with interests in a broad range of industries including manufacturing, entertainment, financial services, transportation, government services, and pharmaceuticals. George Kollitides, who was a Managing Director of Cerberus, oversaw the company’s strategic acquisition of several iconic names in the American firearms industry, including Remington Arms, Bushmaster, DPMS/Panther Arms and Marlin. Named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FGI in March 2012, Kollitides now leads the industry powerhouse, which has grown to be the largest privately-held firearms and ammunition manufacturer in the World.

George Kollitides holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lafayette College and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from New York City’s Columbia University. He is an avid hunter and shooter and a strong and vocal advocate for Second Amendment rights. Kollitides sits on multiple National Rifle Association (NRA) committees, and serves as a Trustee of the NRA Foundation. In addition, he is a director of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association. Outside the office, George Kollitides maintains a strong interest in current affairs. The Speaker Series has hosted various opinion leaders, such as former Supreme Allied Commander (Europe) U.S. Army General (retired) George Joulwan; documentary filmmaker and Academy Award winner Louie Psihoyos; and former Harley-Davidson CEO Jeff Bluestein. The Series recently featured former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff. The events take place in popular New York restaurants, where Kollitides moderates a lively exchange of ideas between the guest and the members.
