He made his first entry into the poker world in the year 2006, when he took part in the Four Final Poker Tournament held at Nassau, Bahamas. He played in the No-Limit Hold'em event and his third-place finish earned him $13,875 in prize money. In the following year, George Guzman made his first appearance at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Event #9 - Limit Omaha Hi/Lo and pocketed $5,369.
In June 2008, George Guzman came back strongly in the 39th Annual World Series of Poker held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. In this tournament, he played in Event #6 - Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better for total prize money worth $1,137,045.
