Dom Genova created Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep after 17 years working for the Chrysler Group, LLC. Beginning as a Management Trainee following the receipt of his Master of Business Administration from Long Island University, Dom Genova served as District Manager for Chrysler in New York and Truck Sales Manager in North Carolina. Over the next several years, Dom Genova would oversee other district managers, draft franchise agreements, and learn the details of the dealership business. In the early 1990s, deciding to leave the corporate dealership environment, Dom Genova developed Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep as an alternative to the typical car dealership. After borrowing from his 401(k), relinquishing property he owned in New York, and obtaining a loan from Chrysler to finance the business, Dom Genova opened Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep in 1994. Centered on a philosophy of "No-Nonsense" sales, Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep removes commission-based salaries from the equation. As a result, the dealership’s salespeople have no financial incentive to persuade customers to buy needless add-ons or more expensive vehicles. To further better the sales experience with Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep, customers only deal with one salesperson until they buy a car, thus allowing the knowledgeable salespeople to better evaluate and understand the needs of their clients. Throughout the past decade, Dom Genova's business has consistently beaten its profit margin and grown to include factory-certified repair shops, a larger Genesee Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership, and, more recently, Genesee Valley Ford. Genesee Valley has become the largest automotive retailer in Livingston County, Dom Genova's Genesee Valley dealership received the Business of the Year Award from the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce in 2004.
