About Gary Yurt
An award-winning safety professional, Gary Yurt has served Industrial Safety and Training Services (ISTS) for the past nine years as a Safety Management Consultant. The company specializes in assessing safety issues for corporate clients and making recommendations that allow them to address safety problems self-sufficiently. While working for the company, Mr. Yurt assisted in cleaning up the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. He currently leads a team of safety professionals and manages a nationwide client base from Louisville, Kentucky, conducting third-party exercises and audits for clients to ensure that they comply with safety requirements.
An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, Gary Yurt has received numerous awards throughout his career. The Commonwealth of Kentucky awarded him a Certificate of Valor nearly eight years ago. Jefferson County Fire Service has named him Firefighter of the Year and presented him with an Outstanding Service Award. In addition, the mayor of Louisville once recognized Mr. Yurt with a citation for outstanding service.
Gary Yurt holds an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. He followed his undergraduate degrees with a Master of Science in Loss Prevention and Safety Administration from the same institution. Mr. Yurt has also attended schooling in Emmitsburg, Maryland, to receive advanced fire safety training, becoming an Executive Fire Officer through the National Fire Academy. He maintains ties to Eastern Kentucky University by teaching students there today.
In order to network and monitor industry developments, Gary Yurt has joined a number of organizations, including Kentuckiana Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, the National Safety Council, and the National Fire Protection Association. In his free time, he coaches youth football at North Oldham Middle School.
