Warnings for Garage Door Torsion Springs

My Garage Door Repair Humble at home comprised of a huge heavy oak panel with some fancy carvings that I did myself after buying the plain big slab of the door. I had a garage door service crew install it and integrate it with the garage door opener. The mechanism featured a couple of rolled up wires which they told me were garage door torsion springs. They generate a lot of tension and the force transmitted is used to easily move the door as it opens or closes. They warned me of course not to replace them on my own if I became unsure of what to do. If they indeed break in the future, I should make no attempt to run the door, they told me, because the tremendous weight of the door will ruin the opener. I read up on how to repair these springs and oh boy, it really is a careful process. Hence, I'll contact them for garage door repair when the springs go awry.
