Farzad Rouhani, also called Freddy (or Freddie) by some, was born in Iran and came to the USA in 1985 in order to go to the University and stayed there ever since. Originally, Farzad Rouhani wanted to become a doctor of medicine, but poker caught his attention and became his new passion, so he became a professional poker player instead.
The first live poker tournament Farzad Rouhani ever won cash in was on December 2nd, 2000, at the U.S Poker Championship Limit 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo tournament. He took the 2nd place along with $17,600, a very good start for a relatively new player in the field. During the next few years Farzad Rouhani hasn't participated in many tournaments and barely managed to boost his bankroll.
January 21st, 2003 was a good day for Farzad Rouhani. On that day he won his first 1st place in a live professional poker tournament: the WPO Limit 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo tournament of the WPT Season 1 Jack Binion World Poker Open. Farzad Rouhani won the 1st place, $31,816 and plenty of respect from many of the great minds in the poker world. Although the prize was not big enough to support him for life, Farzad Rouhani benefited quite a lot from this winning in a WPT event.
After winning the 1st place at the WPT Jack Binion event, Farzad Rouhani worked hard in order to recreate his success in the following year, but failed to do so. In the next WPT Jack Binion event, on January 23rd, 2004, he tried to go for the No Limit Hold'em tournament and managed to get only to the 16th place and take home $4,573.
The next WPT Jack Binion event Farzad Rouhani took part in, on January 22nd, 2005, was the last of the Jack Binions he participated up until now. The year prior to that event was full of surprises (or was it?), as Farzad Rounani made the 2nd place in two of the tournaments he played in. The first was the United States Poker Championship 2004 Limit Hold'em tournament, on September 23rd, 2004, in which he won $17,712. In the second tournament, the WPT Season 3 Five-Diamond World Poker Classic Limit 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo that took place on December 6th, 2004, Farzad Rouhani managed to win his greatest sum yet, $37,539.
So the 2005 WPT Jack Binion event began, and Farzad Rouhani went for the WPO No Limit Hold'em tournament. He took the 9th place and $21,593, and that was the last of the Jack Binion events he participated so far.
2005 was a great year for Farzad Rouhani. Not only did he participate and cashed in more poker tournaments than in any year prior to this one, but he also made a bankroll of about $100,000 and participated in his first (and second, and third) WSOP event in the 36th Annual WSOP.
The years 2006-2007 continued the great streak of luck and talent for Farzad Rouhani, who continued winning cash in many WPT and WSOP tournaments, as well as many others. His most noted performance in these years was at the 37th Annual WSOP No Limit Hold'em tournament on July 21st, 2006, where Farzad Rouhani took the 2nd place along with $429,065, his first 6-digits cash winning and the highest sum won by him so far.
The newest addition to the list of achievement Farzad Rouhani can take pride in is the WSOP bracelet he won in the 39th annual WSOP, at the WSOP Omaha & 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better tournament that took place on June 5th, 2008. Farzad Rouhani won the 1st place and – obviously – the bracelet, and took home $232,911. A few weeks later, on June 30th, he took the 4th place in the WSOP No Limit Hold'em tournament, winning himself another $231,584. This is, indeed, the true meaning of success.
