 Fabricio Coloccini is an Argentine professional football defender born on January 22, 1982, in Córdoba. He has been nicknamed “Colocho” in the football circuit. 

 
Fabricio Coloccini was a member of the winning Argentina Under-20 team at the 2001 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Youth Championship. He was also a part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. At the 2005 Confederations Cup, Fabricio Coloccini contributed a goal in the match against Cameroon. In the 2006 World Cup, he played as a substitute in a match against the Netherlands and made it to the starting eleven in the quarter-finals opposing Germany. As of August 2008, he has earned 28 caps for the national team.

Fabricio Coloccini kick–started his football career by joining the youth team of Argentinos Juniors. He moved on to the Boca Juniors in 1998, where he made his professional debut. He was a part of the team that was victorious in the 1998 Apertura and the 1999 Clausura of the Argentine Primera. In 1999, he switched to A.C. Milan, and his association with the club lasted for five years. During his tenure with the club, he was loaned to San Lorenzo, where he was instrumental in the team’s win of the 2001 Clausura tournament. During the 2001-02 season, following a loan, he played 33 matches for Deportivo Alavés. He spent the 2002-03 season with Atlético Madrid on a loan and played in 27 games. Villarreal CF loaned him for the 2003-04 season, and he represented the club in 32 matches. Finally in 2004, Fabricio Coloccini signed for the Deportivo de La Coruña, a Galician football club. In the La Liga campaign of the 2007-08 season, he played for his team in all their matches and became the first player to do so since the 1999-00 season. During his four seasons with the club, he played in 105 matches and scored five goals. 

In August 2008, Fabricio Coloccini signed a five year deal with Newcastle United for a whooping £10.3 million. He made his debut for the team on the opening day of the 2008-09 season against Manchester United, an English football club.
