Ethan Haymovitz - Professional Summary:    

 

In 2003, Ethan Haymovitz graduated summa cum laude from Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Upon receiving an Overbrook Scholarship, Ethan Haymovitz continued his education and earned his Master of Science in Social Research from Columbia University School of Social Work in 2005. While at Columbia, Ethan Haymovitz published a research article on the effects of stereotype threat on self-reported versus nonverbal anxiety in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. In addition, Ethan Haymovitz presented a lecture on gender variance, sexual orientation, and school bullying for the New York City Department of Education. After completing his Master’s studies, Ethan Haymovitz successfully applied for funding from the National Institute of Health to finance a research project on empowerment-based, psychoeducational mental health intervention for gender-variant children. This study was designed to contribute to the literature on the etiology of gender identity disorder of childhood and adult sexual orientation. In 2007, Ethan Haymovitz began working as a writer and Associate Account Executive for Vantage Consulting Group, Inc., a fundraising consulting firm. He worked in this capacity for 10 months before leaving to offer his writing and evaluation services independently. Three years later, Ethan Haymovitz became Development Officer in charge of evaluation and fundraising for the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center in the Bronx, New York. Currently in this position, Ethan Haymovitz develops strategic planning initiatives, raises both private and government funds, and assists the Director of Development on event planning. Most recently, Ethan Haymovitz earned an Advanced Certificate in Concept Mapping Technology for Planning and Evaluation from Concept Systems, Inc. He is currently studying for a Certificate in Applied Statistics from Penn State University.

EVALUATION Design, develop, and implement program monitoring, outcomes measurement, and strategic planning initiatives. - Analyze and report on all data. - Manage the planning and evaluation of a $225,000 Federal coaching initiative. - Investigate and select appropriate measurement tools for continuous quality improvement purposes. - Make recommendations regarding policy on outcomes assessment in light of agency context. - Educate staff and provide training around program evaluation procedures. FUNDRAISING - Write grant proposals, renewals, press releases, institutional correspondence, and communications content. - Prepare proposals in response to RFPs from federal, state, and city agencies. - Liaise with foundation program officers, staff, and trustees. - Assist the Director of Development in event planning. - Help supervise the work of one administrative social work intern. - Research and liaise with prospective corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors. - Utilize social networking tools (e.g., facebook, twitter) for public relations purposes. - Maintain fundraising database for mailing lists, gift processing, grant cycles.

Responsible for fundraising, communications, and program evaluation.

- Helped raise over $300,000 in private funds, over $140,000 in events, and $225,000 from government sources for a 7.5 million agency within one year of hire. Primary author on a federal grant that brought the agency $225,000 within 6 months of hire.
