About ESR Stat Plus
Offering notable improvements to the standard method of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) testing, the ESR Stat Plus uses a small blood sample to generate three patient results in only five minutes. The Westergren method, in comparison, takes an hour to process results. HemaTechnologies developed the ESR Stat Plus to better accommodate hospital laboratories and surgical center labs. The ability of the ESR Stat Plus to generate quick results is particularly beneficial to fast-paced emergency departments.
Additionally, by requiring an EDTA blood sample of only 25 microliters, the ESR Stat Plus decreases biohazard waste and control costs, makes blood sampling easier for pediatric patients, and reduces or eliminates the “quantity not sufficient” (QNS) report-outs. The sample is taken from a standard EDTA blood collection tube into the EZ-SAFE self-sealing, Mylar-coated tubes. The ESR Stat Plus system also employs a bar code reader that speeds up sample processing, and is helpful in minimizing patient ID errors.
