About Eric Youn
Eric Youn - Professional Summary:
A social worker with expertise in human trafficking and case management, Eric Youn has shared his knowledge of social work as a professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa since January 2007. As an advocate of distance learning, Eric Youn teaches social work through interactive television (ITV), using two-way video technology to provide interactive lessons to students, despite a physical separation between student and instructor.
Eric Youn has built a successful career in social work and higher education following an outstanding academic career. Dr. Youn attended the University of Houston, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1993. Eric Youn subsequently attended the University of Texas at Arlington to earn his Master of Social Work and Ph.D. in Social Work.
Currently located in Honolulu, Eric Youn is the Case Manager for two federal investigations of human trafficking in the state. In this role, Youn is responsible for the emotional and social recovery of the two victims who have been granted refugee status. Victims of human trafficking can suffer significant emotional and psychological damage as a result of their trauma. As the Case Manager, Eric Youn provides counseling and support to help them heal. Deemed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the fastest growing illicit business in the world, human trafficking currently affects approximately 12 million victims across the globe.

Eric Youn acts a Case Manager for human trafficking victims given refugee status in two federal investigations currently taking place in Hawaii. Working closely with these individuals, Eric Youn eases their reintegration and provides for their emotional and social healing.
