In college, Elliot Schildkrout studied history and creative arts at the University of Rochester and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1969. Following the completion of his undergraduate education, Elliot Schildkrout enrolled at the New York University School of Medicine, where he studied psychiatry and received the Herman Wortis Neuropsychiatric Award. Elliot Schildkrout graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 1973 and commenced a three-year residency in psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center.

A generous donor, Elliot Schildkrout regularly contributes to non-profit conservation organizations such as The Trustees of Reservations, the Land Trust Alliance, and The Nature Conservancy. Elliot Schildkrout enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing, but he also devotes his free time to attending performances at the theatre.

1973-1976 Elliot Schildkrout did a residency in Psychiatry at Tufts New England Medical Center.
