Certified as a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR), New York resident Edith Valentin has spent more than a decade honing her skills in the various aspects of the HR profession. She currently holds the position of Director of Human Resources-US for Shred-it, a secure document destruction service with a 20-year history of growth and 140 branches serving clients on 5 continents.
Beginning her career in 1999 with Parsons Brinckerhoff, Edith Valentin worked as an Expatriate Assistant. In her role with one of the world's leading developers of private and public infrastructure, she provided human resources (HR) assistance to 200 expatriates in 5 countries. Working with her international counterparts, she coordinated employee relocation, administered an international benefits plan, and secured all necessary immigration documents for employees and their families. Additionally, she developed HR policy and procedure manuals for the company.
Accepting a position as an Immigration Specialist and HR Generalist with Bloomberg L.P., Edith Valentin was a strategic partner with management, developing company guidelines for employee relations, training, compensation and performance management, retention, and diversity. A key member of the company's mentoring program task force, she conducted surveys to determine company morale. She also implemented focus groups and compiled the results of both efforts for the management team's review. Additionally, she managed immigration and expatriate processes.
After five years with Bloomberg, Edith Valentin worked for Williams Lea Inc., a corporate information solutions outsourcing company, as an HR Generalist. Among routine HR duties, she led a team that analyzed Williams Lea's recruiting process. The outcome of this process was the creation of a comprehensive entry-level training program. Edith Valentin left Williams Lea to accept a position as HR Manager for the Grey Group. Her job responsibilities included support for finance, information technology, and office services, as well as for Wing Latino, the Latin subsidiary of Grey.
In 2006, Edith Valentin took a job as Director of Human Resources for Pitney Bowes Inc., a Stamford, Connecticut-headquartered leading outsourcing firm. Reporting directly to the Vice President of HR, she provided support to executive and corporate managers. She remained at Pitney Bowes until joining Shred-it in 2011.
