East Bank Club

Simon Meredith of the East Bank Club (EBC) in Chicago, Illinois, has built an impressive reputation providing fitness and sports activities, as well as a variety of amenities, to Chicago residents for over 30 years. Simon Meredith initially served EBC as Assistant General Manager for five years. For the past 25 years, Mr. Meredith has operated the club as General Manager. A native of England, Simon Meredith grew up around his parents’ hotel, allowing him the opportunity to mingle and interact with hotel guests and exposing him to the hospitality industry for over two decades. This invaluable experience introduced him to the concepts of customer service and excellence that would later serve the East Bank Club so well.

Before taking a position at EBC, Simon Meredith taught tennis to students in Wisconsin. An avid tennis player, Simon Meredith became the Head Tennis Pro at the Evergreen Bath and Tennis Club in Chicago, where he continued to foster and mentor players. As he continued to contribute to the club’s growth and success, Simon Meredith received a promotion to oversee an additional facility located in Hyde Park.

In his current role at the East Bank Club, Simon Meredith manages a staff of 600 employees. A strong supporter of low employee turnover, Simon Meredith is a loyal manager to his dedicated employees. Simon Meredith holds the work of his employees in high regard, and he initiated a three-year member service training program for all employees. The goal of the training, similar to the programs implemented at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., and The Walt Disney Company, is to introduce the culture of EBC to its employees so their interaction with members would be customer-focused.
