E. Lillian Cheng

Corneal Associates of New Jersey Ophthalmology Associate E. Lillian Cheng completed her undergraduate studies in biology and art history at Northwestern University in 1998, joining a lengthy list of illustrious alumni that includes former United States Senator George McGovern, actor Charlton Heston, and computer scientist and astronomer Jacques Vallee. In 1998, E. Lillian Cheng accepted a Research Specialist position in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, a job she held until 2000.

 

In addition to maintaining cell cultures and conducting cellular and ocular research, E. Lillian Cheng collaborated with several highly respected doctors on papers for widely read peer-reviewed academic journals such as Cornea: The Journal of Cornea and External Disease and the Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry. E. Lillian Cheng enrolled at North Chicago, Illinois’ Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 1999 and received her Doctor of Medicine in 2003. Following the receipt of her doctorate, E. Lillian Cheng commenced her residency in ophthalmology at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

 

For three years, E. Lillian Cheng accumulated valuable on-the-job experience assisting in surgeries and providing comprehensive clinical care. Before completing her residency in mid-2007, E. Lillian Cheng received the coveted title of Chief Resident. E. Lillian Cheng moved to New Jersey in July of 2007 and participated in the one-year Corneal Associates of New Jersey Cornea and Refractive Fellowship. In 2008, E. Lillian Cheng concluded her fellowship and became an Ophthalmology Associate at the renowned West Orange-based practice.

 

With proficiency in ophthalmological subspecialties such as laser vision correction, corneal transplant surgery, and premium lens implants, E. Lillian Cheng contributes to Corneal Associates of New Jersey’s impressive reputation for expertise and quality. Outside of her professional responsibilities as a board-certified ophthalmologist, E. Lillian Cheng enjoys running, cooking, spending time with her family, and reading.
