About Dwain Carryl
Dwain Carryl - Professional Summary:
Dedicated to improving the quality of life in the New York City community, Dwain Carryl has played an active role at Odyssey House, Inc. A rehabilitation center that also offers programs for seniors, adolescents, and inmates, Odyssey House has helped over 35,000 individuals regain healthy lives since 1967. As a past member of the Board of Trustees, Dwain Carryl helped steer the organization. In an effort to promote Odyssey House and its mission in the community, he attends a range of fundraising events.
Dwain Carryl’s community involvement, however, reaches beyond New York City, to his alma mater: Harvard University. Dwain Carryl also serves as Board Member and Treasurer for The Deshaun Hill and Harvard Stevens Memorial Scholarship. Created to memorialize two of his friends and fellow college classmates who passed away in a car accident, this scholarship also honors Harvard’s African-American community. Dwain Carryl, Deshaun Hill, and Harvard Stevens were all part of this close-knit group. Upon their passing, Mr. Hill’s and Mr. Stevens’ graduating class established a yearly scholarship that offers financial aid to two African-American Harvard students each year.
Mr. Carryl attended Harvard from 1995 to 1999 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. While a student at Harvard, he joined the Phoenix - S K Club and is now a member of the Harvard Club of New York. Throughout his collegiate career, Dwain Carryl also played football, serving as one of the team’s cornerbacks. Between 2002 and 2004, he studied at Yale University’s School of Management. Today, Dwain Carryl remains a member of the Harvard and Yale Clubs of New York and in his leisure time, enjoys film and has attended the Tribeca Film Festival.
