About Dutch Lamons
Dutch Lamons has gained considerable knowledge in his time working with people with disabilities and participating in various social issue events. While in high school, Dutch Lamons contributed two hours a week to the school’s Best Buddies program to assist students meeting the challenges of mental and physical disabilities. Not only a mentor, Dutch also attended social events such as movies and bowling, and attended the prom held for these students. During this time, Dutch Lamons also participated in the Constitutional Rights Foundation in Orange County, learning the structure of the juvenile court system while serving as a peer court juror. In this role he oversaw and proposed sentences for high school students who had committed non-violent crimes. In addition, he worked in the Deaf Advocacy Center as a junior and took part in the Magic Shoe 5k Run/Walk fundraiser his senior year . Furthermore, Dutch Lamons also aided in the local Special Olympics for two consecutive years while remaining active in his church youth group. During a three-day trip to Mexico, Dutch Lamons and his church youth group built homes, sponsored by Casa de Baja. Currently, Dutch Lamons is a sophomore attending Texas Christian University. Following a strong interest in helping people with disabilities and American Sign Language, he is majoring in Communications. Dutch Lamons, a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, was a finalist for the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Balanced Man Scholarship Award during his freshman year.
