Duane Stillions

Renowned pediatrician and anesthesiologist Dr. Duane Stillions currently studies at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where he is in the process of acquiring his Master of Public Health with an expected graduation date of May 2011. Dr. Stillions earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Kansas in 1990, and subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1994. In the following year, he completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and in the subsequent three years pursued a residency in anesthesia at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. After that, Dr. Duane Stillions spent a year at Seattle Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Washington where he was named a fellow in pediatric anesthesiology and received sub-specialty training in the area of cardiac anesthesia. Though he is currently studying for his Master of Public Health, Dr. Duane Stillions has served extensively as physician in a number of positions. The most recent of these include his service as Staff Anesthesiologist at Children's National Medical Center located in Washington, DC. While at Children's National Medical Center, Dr. Stillions provided cardiac anesthesia to patients 80 percent of clinical time. Dr. Stillions also was named Chairperson of the Recruitment Committee in 2005 and continued to serve on the committee until 2008. In 2005, Dr. Duane Stillions was appointed to be Chairperson of the Family Centered Care Committee which facilitated the collaboration of healthcare professionals, families, and their patients in an orchestrated effort to improve the quality of patient care, a committee which he continued to serve on until 2008. Prior to his post as Staff Anesthesiologist at Children's National Medical Center, Dr. Duane Stillions also served as Staff Anesthesiologist at Fairfax Hospital (now Inova Fairfax Hospital) in Virginia, among other places of employment.
