As Medical Director at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York, Dr. James Chmiel leads a talented team of surgeons at the Buffalo-area Surgical Center, treating a range of issues including eye problems, orthopedic ailments, foot problems, pain, and ear, nose, and throat issues. Dr. James Chmiel, himself, specializes in complex sinus surgeries and voice disorders in children and adults. He has served as the center’s Medical Director since 2010.
Dr. James Chmiel also owns and operates his own practice, Amherst Ear, Nose, and Throat, LLC (Amherst ENT). Dr. Chmiel founded Amherst ENT in 2001, offering medical services for patients suffering from ear diseases, hearing loss, sinus disorders, chronic nosebleeds, voice disorders, dizziness, and more. Amherst ENT is located on East Robinson Road just off of Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, New York.
A member of the Buffalo medical community for over 10 years, Dr. James Chmiel is President of the Buffalo Otolaryngological Society and served as Chairman of The Medical Society of The County of Erie’s Workers Compensation Committee. Dr. Chmiel also is a Fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology. His Medical School trianing was at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he currently holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor. After earning his M.D.degree, he performed a five-year ear, nose, and throat residency at the prestigious University Hospitals of Cleveland, Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital and Metro Health Medical Center Trauma Hospital in Ohio.
In his spare time, Dr. James Chmiel is an avid skier. He holds the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and received his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
