Dr Bradley Schwack - Professional Summary:
Dr. Bradley Schwack most recently served as a Clinical Fellow in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatrics. In this role, Bradley Schwack, M.D. created several videos and presentations on laparoscopic surgery. In 2009, Dr. Bradley Schwack submitted videos on laparoscopic adjustable gastric bands and gastric bypass to the American College of Surgeons and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery. That same year, Dr. Bradley Schwack presented on similar topics at the Southern Association for the History of Medicine and Science and The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Prior to beginning his fellowship, Dr. Bradley Schwack pursued postsecondary studies at Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences in Ithaca, New York, where he concentrated on French literature and biology. Due to his academic excellence, Bradley Schwack, M.D. benefited from the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program, which he enjoyed throughout his undergraduate career. Dr. Bradley Schwack also placed on the dean’s list multiple times and earned a Corson Prize in French literature. After Dr. Bradley Schwack graduated magna cum laude, he enrolled in an advanced program at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Bradley Schwack studied Pharmacology, graduating first in his class with a Master of Science.
Dr. Bradley Schwack continued at the medical school and focused his studies on health care. He pursued a special general surgery elective through which he received virtual reality laparoscopic training and performed open surgeries. Bradley Schwack earned his M.D., as well as an E. Edward McCool, Jr. Surgery Award, an honor given to the senior medical student who best exemplifies critical surgical traits. Dr. Bradley Schwack then began his residency in general surgery at New York University School of Medicine, earning a teaching award during his time there.
In addition to his education, Dr. Bradley Schwack has been involved in a number of research studies. With Aml Raafat, M.D., he conducted trauma surgery research between 2003 and 2004. He also studied the differences between clamping and not clamping during thoracostomy tube removal at Tulane University. Dr. Bradley Schwack maintains relationships with a number of professional medical organizations, including the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.
