About Dr. Roberta Kalafut
A doctor specializing in pain medicine and rehabilitation, Roberta Kalafut co-founded SpineAbilene with her husband, Edward Brandecker, in 1998.
SpineAbilene offers Roberta Kalafut’s patients a central location for the diagnosis and treatment of spine-related pain. Roberta Kalafut and the staff at SpineAbilene emphasize nonsurgical therapies, including physical therapy and ambulatory care, to prevent unnecessary complications and pain.
Roberta Kalafut earned her Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University, then received her osteopathy degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. During the last year of Roberta Kalafut’s residency in physical medicine at Johns Hopkins and Sinai Hospitals in Baltimore, she was selected as Chief Resident.
Before she and her husband relocated to Abilene, Texas, Roberta Kalafut practiced in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was involved with the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland. After a move to Texas, Roberta Kalafut served as Medical Director at the Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation. Roberta Kalafut also served as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from 1994 to 2006.
Dedicated to advances in the field of pain medicine, Roberta Kalafut has presented on industrial medicine, rehabilitation, and other topics to risk managers, insurances adjusters, and the general public. Roberta Kalafut’s other interests include physiatry for women and musculoskeletal disorders. Staying apprised of the latest developments in her field, Roberta Kalafut is affiliated professionally with the Texas Pain Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
In her spare time, Roberta Kalafut enjoys scuba diving and gardening.
