About Dr. Leslye Abrutyn

Leslye Abrutyn wields nearly four decades of experience serving the public school system as an educator and administrator at all levels.


As a former Superintendent of the Penn-Delco School District, Leslye Abrutyn used her vast knowledge and experience in the educational sector to oversee and improve curriculum management and diversity and tolerance programs.


Before assuming the title of Superintendent within Penn-Delco, Abrutyn garnered invaluable leadership experience as the district’s Assistant Superintendent. Furthermore, Leslye Abrutyn served as Assistant Principal and Acting Assistant Principal in the Springfield School District and the Lower Merion School District. Leslye Abrutyn’s background also includes experience as an educator, as she taught special and elementary education.


Leslye Abrutyn is an active member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She holds certificates in Reading, Special Education, and Secondary School Administration as well as in Elementary Teacher, Elementary Principal, and Secondary Principal.


In recognition of her exceptional efforts throughout her career, the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and EI Associates honored Leslye Abrutyn with the EI/John Kresovich Award for Innovation and Use of Technology. In 2006, her alma mater, Boston University, selected Abrutyn from among 34,000 university alumni to receive the Dean Arthur Herbert Wilde Society Award. Leslye Abrutyn was also honored with the Spirit of Excellence Award for Individual Business Achievement from the Friends of the Delaware County Women’s Commission.


Leslye Abrutyn received her Doctor of Education in Education Administration from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and her Master of Education in Special Education from Temple University. Leslye Abrutyn completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
