Dr. Kenneth Berry - Professional Summary:    As founder and Chief Executive Officer of PREEMPT Systems, Inc., Dr. Kenneth Berry is an internationally recognized authority in the fields of biological and chemical counterterrorism. Dr. Kenneth Berry holds a medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fairfield University. Dr. Kenneth Berry developed his expertise on bioterrorism by combining this education with board certification in emergency medicine, training as a commercial pilot, and his experience as President of the American Academy of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Kenneth Berry shared his knowledge on emergency preparation strategies while collaborating with the U.S. Department of State, FEMA, and the U.S. Department of Defense, among several other government agencies and defense companies such as General Dynamics Corporation, the Orbital Sciences Corporation, & others on related projects. Having a deep understanding of the threat of nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) weapons, Dr. Kenneth Berry created the Planned Response Exercises and Emergency Medical Preparedness Training system( PREEMPT) in 1996 as a mechanism to promote an effective defense against bioterrorist attacks and to encourage the training of emergency medical personnel on how to better prepare for these attacks. After working with others in science to establish the system’s goals of bolstering planning and early detection, Dr. Kenneth Berry traveled across the country to demonstrate and promote PREEMPT. To recognize his efforts in encouraging domestic emergency preparation, the National Association of Chiefs of Police presented Dr. Kenneth Berry it's prestigious J. Edgar Hoover Award for Distinguished Public Service in 1999. Dr. Kenneth Berry currently works at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, New York, and lives in nearby Hopewell Junction with his wife Diane.
