About Jay Reibel :
Jay Reibel has served as a psychiatrist and health care administrator over the course of his extensive career. As the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Preferred Health Care Ltd, Dr. Reibel oversaw the growth of the company until its purchase in December of 1993 by Value Health, Inc. for approximately $400 million. Value Health was in turn acquired by Columbia Hospital Corporation, which in turn was bought by HCA Inc. or Hospital Corporation of America, now the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world. Jay Reibel’s insight and understanding of the evolving nature of health care earned him an appointment to the 19-member Health Insurance Benefits Advisory Council created by the U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare Elliott Richardson. Previously, Jay Reibel served on the Board of New York County Medical Society (NYCMS) and as Chairman of its Committee on Medical Economics.
Jay Reibel is an alumnus of Dartmouth College and Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Furthering his studies, Jay Reibel earned his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) in 1966. Subsequently, Jay Reibel completed his residency in.
Jay Reibel and his wife, Barbara, are actively involved in the greater New York social scene, supporting major arts organizations, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Opera and the Frick Collection. Jay Reibel has also been a significant contributor to the Hood Museum of Art and Hopkins Center for the Arts at his alma mater, Dartmouth. Dr. Reibel is a member of the Knickerbocker Club and New York Yacht Club, as well as the Indian Harbor Yacht Club in his hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut. In addition to his interest in sailing, he collects 19th century maritime paintings.
