Dr. Gustavo Stringel M.D.

A respected educator, Dr. Gustavo Stringel serves as a Professor of Pediatrics and Surgery at New York Medical College. Dr. Stringel supervises students and residents, helps develop education programs, and prepares individuals for their board exams. At New York Medical College, Dr. Gustavo Stringel's accomplishments include establishing a cutting-edge surgical skills lab, redesigning the curriculum, and mentoring students. In addition, he has published more than 80 scientific papers and delivered more than 100 presentations to audiences across the nation and abroad.

 

In addition to his role as a Professor of Pediatrics and Surgery, Dr. Gustavo Stringel is also a Surgeon in Chief and Director of Pediatric Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla, New York. Since joining the hospital in 1994, Dr. Stringel has increased the complexity and volume of pediatric surgical cases accepted at the hospital over the course of eight consecutive years. In addition, he has been instrumental in hiring a wide variety of specialists. In his directorial capacity, he has also created and shaped the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery, led the renovation of the hospital, and founded the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Surgery Group of Westchester, where he serves as President.

 

Dr. Gustavo Stringel graduated from Centro Universitario México and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He pursued additional training in Canada. He completed an internship at Michael’s Hospital, followed by a residency in surgery at the Gallie Program of the University of Toronto. Dr. Stringel also completed a fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Canada. In addition to his medical studies, he received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management. Earning many accolades, he has been recognized as one of the Top Doctors in New York by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. for the past 10 consecutive years.
