About Dr. Greg Morganroth
Mohs micrographic surgery is a specialty of Dr. Greg Morganroth, the President of the California Skin Institute in Mountain View, California. Mohs is an advanced, microscopic surgery technique used to ensure the highest possible cure rates in treating skin cancer while removing the smallest amount of normal skin. This technique creates the smallest skin defect allowing for the smallest scar. Dr. Greg Morganroth is one of only a few fellowship trained physicians in Northern California certified in its use.
During his Mohs training in Kansas City, Missouri in 1995, Dr. Greg Morganroth underwent a rigorous program including Mohs, laser, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery training offered jointly by two institutions: the Skin and Mohs Surgery Center, Baptist Medical Center, and Hunkeler Eye Clinic. That year, Dr. Greg Morganroth was one of only 35 dermatologists in the United States to undergo dermatologic surgery fellowhsip training.
A member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the California Dermatology Society, Dr. Greg Morganroth has performed over 18,000 Mohs treatments since he entered private practice in 1995. Additionally, Dr. Greg Morganroth has pioneered minimally invasive techniques that combine standard dermatological treatments, Mohs, and rejuvenation therapies. His cosmetic surgery techniques are performed with local anesthesia and provide a dramatic and natural results with minimal risk and downtime. For his work on the Vertical Vector Facelift technique, Dr. Greg Morganroth has been invited to speak at several medical conferences and has published many book chapters to educate his colleagues. In 2012, his book illustrating his unique techniques will be published by Elselvier Press.
Dr. Greg Morganroth is also involved in dermatological research, and he has published papers in peer-reviewed medical journals on topics related to oncology, facial implants, and surgical complications.
Dr. Greg Morganroth is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, where he received his Doctor of Medicine cum laude and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Greg Morganroth completed an internship at the University of Pennsylvania and his residency at Yale University before entering private practice. Dr. Greg Morganroth has also held several academic posts, and is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University and formerly of the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco. At the California Skin Institute, Dr. Greg Morganroth also administers the Mohs and Advanced Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Training Program, one of a handful of certified Mohs training programs in the United States.
