Doug Cadwallader - Professional Summary:     

 

Recently retired from Houston, Texas’ St. Thomas Church and School, Douglas Cadwallader served for 33 years with the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Active with the Episcopal Church since the age of 15, Douglas Cadwallader felt called to join the ministry in 1970. He faithfully pursued his calling. Upon achieving ordainment as a priest, he served over the years as Assistant Rector, Rector, and Reverend. Douglas Cadwallader’s experience as a priest includes working to improve the lives of the homeless. From 1982 to 1986, he specifically maintained responsibility for dealing with the homeless in Houston, Texas, in affiliation with Houston’s Trinity Church. Through his experiences, Douglas Cadwallader continues to develop a unique understanding of the harmful effects of alcoholism on both families and communities.

Douglas Cadwallader’s notable contributions to humanitarian causes also include working to establish the Houston Food Bank, participating in several fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, and serving as an active member of the Rotary Club of Palacios, Texas. Beyond his affiliation with the Episcopal Church, Douglas Cadwallader continues to maintain a membership with the Freemasons, an organization he respects for their contributions to society in Texas. Douglas Cadwallader holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University. In 1977, he completed his Master of Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary. More recently, Douglas Cadwallader returned to Louisiana State University and completed his Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology.
